FiberLink® is the latest development in nonwoven and mineral technology. FiberLink® has been specifically engineered to substantially reduce the amount of resin used in nonwoven production, reducing the carbon footprint of the final product while providing cost savings. Application-specific performance enhancement, such as increased softness, opacity, strength, and filtration efficiency can also be achieved.
Application Specific Benefits
Improved Appearance: All nonwoven fabrics containing FiberLink® are delustered and have better opacity than unfilled nonwoven webs at similar basis weight.
Increased Softness: The increased surface roughness of fibers that contain FiberLink® gives an improvement of haptics, specifically in softness.
Better Filtration Performance: Melt blown fabrics containing FiberLink® have improved charged and uncharged filtration efficiency
High Hydrostatic Head: Meltblown polypropylene fabrics maintain a stable hydrostatic head with FiberLink® loading levels up to 40%wt
High Air Permeability: Air permeability is similar to unfilled PP meltblown fabrics with the addition of FiberLink®
Cost Savings: Utilization of FiberLink® can reduce the raw material costs due to its substantially lower price
Environmental: Life Cycle Analysis indicates the carbon footprint of FiberLink® is lower than petrochemical-based resins. Overall, the addition of 20% FiberLink® in a nonwoven results in 10-20% reduction in total carbon footprint.
Processing: Expand line capacity without capital investment. FiberLink’s® higher thermal conductivity and density relative to PP enables lower bonding temperatures and the potential for increased weight throughput on a constant volume basis.
